83 is an autobiographical sports movie directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Khan,Deepika Padukone, Vishnuvardhan Induri, and Sajid Nadiadwala, as well as Phantom Films,Reliance Entertainment, and 83 Film Ltd.Tahir Raj Bhasin, Deepika Padukone, Saqib Saleem,Chirag Patil, Pankaj Tripathi, Nishant Dahiya, Jiiva,Sahil Khattar, Harrdy Sandhu,Ammy Virk, Dhairya Karwa,Adinath Kothare,R Badree, Dinker Sharma and Jatin Sarna, feature alongside Ranveer Singh as cricketer Kapil Dev.
Kapil Dev is famed for his simple as well as his Cup Final catches and his classic Natraj stroke when batting. Fans who are both excited and perplexed by the amount of screen time given to actress Deepika Padukone in the ’83 teaser – she plays Kapil Dev’s wife Romi – will be relieved to learn that the cricket star is similarly perplexed. “I suppose mixed,” the former Indian captain remarked when asked about his reaction to Deepika’s casting by The Quint. “I don’t know how big the part of my wife is in ’83, therefore one doesn’t realise what they are attempting to achieve there.”
The goal is to explicitly capitalise on the coupling of real-life superstar duo Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone as a reel-life combo.
Because almost everyone remembers, ’83 is a reenactment of how India, headed by Kapil Dev, won the final in 1983 – a true sporting drama that almost all Indians are too familiar with. ’83 offers an astonishing assortment of talent as Kapil’s Devils, including Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar and Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath, in addition to Deepika as Romi Dev.
Ranveer Singh leads Team India in 1983, and his transformation into Kapil Dev is greeted with thunderous acclaim. The cricketer’s response to this casting was unequivocal. “I’m sure you’re delighted that such a fantastic and talented performer is working on it. I was also concerned because the work requires a lot of physical exertion. But, based on the way he worked and laboured over the previous year, I couldn’t imagine someone could be so hungry to try to accomplish so much in that film “He told The Quint about it.
Reliance Entertainment and Vibri Media held a ceremony in September 2017 to introduce the film with the 1983 World Cup winning squad before production began on June 5, 2019, in England. Because COVID-19 pandemic, the release date of 83 has been pushed back from April 2020 to December 2020. However, the film was once again postponed until the first quarter of 2021, in November 2020, owing to the pandemic’s tenacity, which resulted in the lowest audience occupancy record in theatres. The release date has been pushed out to June 4, 2021. The film’s release date was then postponed indefinitely owing to an upsurge of COVID-19 cases. On December 24, 2021, it will now be released in cinemas. The film will be released in Kannada,Telugu, Tamil,Malayalam, and dubbed versions of these languages.

Deepika Padukone joined the cast as Romi Bhatia, Kapil Dev’s wife, and also co-produced the film. Jiiva, a Tamil actor, has been cast in the role of Krishnamachari Srikkanth, which would be his Hindi debut.
Khan said that the film’s principal photography will begin in England in May 2019. On May 28, the cast of ’83 travelled to London. “Now that it’s on the floors, beginning with the Glasgow schedule,” Khan said, “everyone’s delighted to reenact a voyage that created history, all due to our cricketing heroes from the ’83 squad.” Padukone arrived in Glasgow in mid-June to join the film crew for her portion of the production. On September 1, the film’s three-month schedule in London came to an end. Padukone wrapped up her part of the filming in mid-September. On October 7, 2019, the filming was done.
Because to the COVID-19 outbreak in India, the release date of 83 was pushed back to Christmas 2020. However, during November 2020, Reliance Entertainment stated that the movie will be delayed until the first quarter of 2021, citing the pandemic’s continued existence as the reason for the delay. This movie has been postponed for June 4, 2021. Then, due to an increase of COVID-19 instances, the movie’s launch date was delayed. The movie, as well as its dubbed versions in Kannada, Malayalam,Telugu, and Tamil, will now be released on December 24, 2021.
