Avatar 2 release date, cast, trailer
Avatar is a futuristic epic science fiction film directed by James Cameron and produced by 20th Century Studios. It is the second instalment in Cameron’s Avatar franchise, after Avatar (2009). Josh Friedman was originally identified as Cameron’s co-writer, but it was subsequently discovered that Cameron, Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Shane Salerno all collaborated in the writing process of all sequels before being credited with different screenplays, leaving the final writing credits uncertain. The cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, and Giovanni Ribisi.

Following the huge success of the first film, Cameron announced the first two sequels in 2010, with Avatar 2 scheduled for release in 2014. Cameron stated in 2006 that if Avatar was a success, he would like to make more films. However, the inclusion of three additional sequels, as well as the necessity to develop new technology in order to film performance capture scenes underwater, which had never been done before, resulted in significant delays, allowing the crew to focus on the plot, pre-production, and visual effects.

The film’s theatrical premiere has been postponed eight times, the most recent being on July 23, 2020; it is currently set to debut on December 16, 2022, with three sequels following on December 20, 2024, December 18, 2026, and December 22, 2028.
